This program is part of the 2nd annual Hot Springs Book Festival which takes place May 26th-27th at the Garland County Library.
Starting in May 2023 (Spring), four seasonal bird walks around the neighborhood surrounding the Library will be led by an experienced birder from the local Audubon Society.
Participants should arrive starting around 8:30am to prepare for the walk, which will depart at 9am, and will last approximately two hours. Participants will receive complimentary “birdwalk starter kits” containing basic supplies for their adventure.
After the birdwalk, the number of each species of bird sighted will be entered into a national database as a citizen science exercise. After three follow-up Saturday mornings in future months, in February of 2024 participants will compare the four bird lists to gain a richer understanding of seasonal changes in avian populations of Garland County.
The Hot Springs Book Festival is hosted by the Garland County Library with support from the Literacy Council of Garland County and National Park College Adult Education.
