(V) Highlands Folk Project: Old Time Music of Garland & Montgomery Counties

January 25 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

Program livestreamed at facebook.com/garlandcountylibrary and youtube.com/garlandcolibrary

Join Charlie Moore, founder of the Highlands Folk Project, as he takes you on a virtual tour of modern performers of old time traditional music.

In this episode, guests will be Liz Robbins, Executive Director of the Garland County Historical Society and Barry Mickey, Director of the Heritage House Museum in Mt. Ida, Arkansas.  Charlie Moore will moderate as Liz and Barry share some little known facts and misconceptions about our local histories.  Also, viewers will learn how to use the resources of these organizations to research various topics of history and how to share and archive historical items, papers, pictures, etc., so future generations will be able to benefit from our rich history.  Charlie will also provide an update to his search for the missing history of Ouachita Old Time Mountain Music.  Recent discoveries have uncovered several promising resources. More to come!

Traditional music is the foundation for country, gospel, country western, bluegrass, blues, and more. It was the music of the common man.
