(VIRTUAL) A Closer Look at Harriet Tubman

November 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

Program livestreamed at facebook.com/garlandcountylibrary and youtube.com/garlandcolibrary

This program will give a closer look at the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman. Tubman is the subject of Downtown Hot Springs’ upcoming Freedom mural, envisioned by artist Perrion Hurd.

“Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad.”

Program is presented by Dr. Carla F. Carter.  Dr. Carter was recently appointed as the Department Chair for Philander Smith College’s newly-formed Visual and Performing Arts major.
