Join Garland County Historical Society Executive Director, Liz Robbins, at the Coronado Center Auditorium for her presentation “Hot Springs: Trials and Triumphs of a Resort City”. She will provide a brief overview of Hot Springs during its heyday and will conduct a Q&A session afterwards. If you are a new member of the community, or want to know more about Hot Springs, this program is for you!

About the presenter:
Executive Director Liz Robbins is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSE in Education and from New Mexico Highlands University with an MA in English and history. Liz taught English for thirty-seven years, the last twenty-six at Lakeside High School in Hot Springs. Since 2007, Liz has been the executive director of the Garland County Historical Society, and she is the editor of its yearly journal, The Record. She is a past board member of the Arkansas State Archives.

About the Hot Springs Farmers & Artisans Market
The Hot Springs Farmers and Artisans Market is a gathering place for locals and tourists to visit, sip coffee, and savor live local music on Saturday mornings. Shoppers can purchase their weekly produce, meats, eggs and fresh baked goods. The cheerful market vendors also offer seasonal homegrown fresh herbs, plants, flowers, local honey, jams, jellies, spreads and more.

Along with the homemade foods and homegrown plants for sale, the Farmers and Artisans Market provides space for talented local Hot Springs, Arkansas crafters and artisans to sell their original art, hand-crafted jewelry and wood products, homemade clothing, kitchen goods, soaps, tinctures and more.

Cost: AARP Member $20.00 and Non Member $25.00. Fee paid to instructor at start of class. Please make a check out to AARP.

City of Hot Springs Free Tree Event

When: Tuesday, April 25th, 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. or until seedlings are gone

To celebrate Arbor Day, the City of Hot Springs Urban Forestry & Stormwater Divisions will be hosting a giveaway of bare root seedlings in the Garland County Library’s parking lot.

Bald Cypress, Persimmon, Red Mulberry seedlings will be given while supplies last.

Bluegrass Jam

Bring your instruments, play some bluegrass, and mingle with fellow enthusiasts in the library’s auditorium on the first and third Thursday afternoon of each month!

Free Tree Friday

What: Free Tree Friday
When: Friday, April 7, 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. or until seedlings are gone
Where: In-Person
Who: All Ages

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division will be hosting a giveaway of bare root seedlings in the Garland County Library’s parking lot.

Species will vary by location, all seedlings will be native Arkansas hardwoods.
