Join fiction writer and GCL staff member Chanan Emmons for a monthly dive into fiction writing and the writing life. The Inkhearts meet on the second Tuesday evening of each month to discuss craft-related topics and workshop fiction selections submitted by members of the group. This month, they’ll be discussing the Six Parts of a Scene.

No prior experience is necessary. New participants will be guided in the workshop process. This program is free and open to all fiction-writing adults, from beginners to published authors, who want to sharpen their fiction writing skills and participate in a nurturing artistic community.

Chanan earned her MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and her BA in Professional & Technical Writing from UALR. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with other Garland County writers.

This program is for storytellers of all kinds, whether you want to write your story down in words,
illustrate it in a comic, act it out, or tell it through paint, clay, collage, or some other medium.
This month we’ll talk about point of view. Whose story are we telling, and how do we show it
from their unique perspective? Also, games and snacks.
No experience is needed, and no one will be required to share their work unless they want to.
This is a low-risk creative environment.
