The “Have Book, Will Travel” book club features revolving themes, moderators, and locales. This club is meant to be about book discovery and discussion, as well as socializing with fellow readers who share common interests. There are a limited number of free copies of the book available at the library for those who register on a first come basis. Pick up your copy early before the book club!

In January, we will meet and discuss The House in the Cerulean Sea by T. J. Klune.

According to the publisher’s description, “The House in the Cerulean Sea is an enchanting love story, masterfully told, about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place—and realizing that family is yours.”

New participants will be guided in the workshop process.

This program is free and open to all fiction-writing adults, from beginners to published authors, who want to sharpen their fiction writing skills and participate in a nurturing artistic community.

Chanan earned her MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and her BA in Professional & Technical Writing from UALR. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with other Garland County writers.

This program is part book club, part fiction writing club. We’ll read from The Book of Three, by Lloyd Alexander and use it as a jumping off point to tell our own stories.

This month we’ll focus on the little stuff. Which details do your readers want or need, and which ones would they rather you left out?

Whether you prefer to write your story down in words or are more comfortable telling it through paint, clay, acting, or some other way, all kinds of storytellers are welcome.
